وزیراعظم پاکستان شہباز شریف سے پاکستان کے دورے پر آئے ہوئے اقوام متحدہ کے سیکریٹری جنرل انتونیو گوتریس نے ملاقات کی۔
وزیراعظم نے اقوام متحدہ کے منشور، کثیرالجہتی نظام، بین الاقوامی قانون، مکالمے اور تنازعات کے پرامن حل کے لیے سیکریٹری جنرل کے اصولی عزم کو سراہا۔
انہوں نے اپنے دورِ منصب کے دوران عالمی امن و سلامتی کے لیے سیکریٹری جنرل کی نمایاں خدمات کو بھی خراجِ تحسین پیش کیا۔
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif welcomed United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who is on an official visit to Pakistan, this evening.
The Prime Minister lauded the Secretary-General for his principled commitment to the UN Charter, multilateralism, international law, dialogue and the peaceful settlement of disputes. He also acknowledged his outstanding contribution to international peace and security during his tenure.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to an effective, inclusive and representative UN, particularly at a time when multilateralism faces significant challenges. He welcomed the Secretary-General’s UN80 Initiative and emphasized that UN reform should remain responsive to the priorities of developing countries, while strengthening conflict prevention, peaceful settlement of disputes, peacekeeping and peacebuilding. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to UN peacekeeping and its continued contribution to the maintenance of international peace and security.
The Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue and de-escalation, including its mediation role between the US and Iran. He reiterated that dialogue and diplomacy remains the only viable path to resolving disputes and preventing escalation.
The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability and emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He highlighted that the Indus Waters Treaty is a binding international agreement and that India’s unilateral decision to place it in abeyance has no legal basis.
The Prime Minister also stressed that a peaceful and stable Afghanistan remains in Pakistan’s interest. While expressing serious concern over terrorism emanating from Afghanistan and the presence of terrorist groups on Afghan soil, he emphasized the need for taking concrete and verifiable actions against such terrorist groups.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and statehood, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s support for implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan and UNSC Resolution 2803.
The Prime Minister also underscored the need for greater access to affordable and concessional financing for developing countries to advance development and climate resilience.
The Secretary-General appreciated Pakistan’s longstanding contribution to the UN and international peace and security, including its significant role in UN peacekeeping and constructive engagement in the Security Council. He particularly appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue, mediation and de-escalation, and welcomed its continued commitment to multilateralism and the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.
Later, the Prime Minister hosted a dinner in honour of the United Nations Secretary-General and his delegation.

وزیراعظم نے مؤثر، جامع اور نمائندہ اقوام متحدہ کے لیے پاکستان کے پختہ عزم کا اعادہ کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ ایسے وقت میں جب کثیرالجہتی نظام کو اہم چیلنجز درپیش ہیں، اقوام متحدہ کا مؤثر کردار مزید اہمیت اختیار کر گیا ہے۔
انہوں نے سیکریٹری جنرل کے UN80 اقدام کا خیرمقدم کرتے ہوئے زور دیا کہ اقوام متحدہ میں اصلاحات ترقی پذیر ممالک کی ترجیحات کے مطابق ہونی چاہئیں، جبکہ تنازعات کی روک تھام، تنازعات کے پرامن حل اور قیامِ امن کے عمل کو مزید مضبوط بنایا جانا چاہیے۔
وزیراعظم نے اقوام متحدہ کے امن مشنز کے لیے پاکستان کے دیرینہ عزم کا اعادہ کرتے ہوئے عالمی امن و سلامتی کے قیام کے لیے پاکستان کی مسلسل خدمات کو بھی اجاگر کیا۔
وزیراعظم نے مکالمے اور کشیدگی میں کمی کے فروغ کے لیے پاکستان کی سفارتی کوششوں کو اجاگر کیا، جن میں امریکہ اور ایران کے درمیان ثالثی میں پاکستان کا کردار بھی شامل ہے۔ انہوں نے اس عزم کا اعادہ کیا کہ تنازعات کے حل اور کشیدگی میں اضافے کی روک تھام کے لیے مکالمہ اور سفارت کاری ہی واحد قابلِ عمل راستہ ہے۔
وزیراعظم نے علاقائی امن و استحکام کے لیے پاکستان کے عزم کا اعادہ کرتے ہوئے جموں و کشمیر کے تنازع کے اقوام متحدہ کی سلامتی کونسل کی متعلقہ قراردادوں اور کشمیری عوام کی امنگوں کے مطابق پرامن حل کی ضرورت پر زور دیا۔
وزیراعظم نے واضح کیا کہ سندھ طاس معاہدہ ایک بین الاقوامی معاہدہ ہے اور اسے یکطرفہ طور پر التوا میں رکھنے کا بھارت کا فیصلہ کسی قانونی بنیاد کا حامل نہیں۔
وزیراعظم نے اس امر پر بھی زور دیا کہ ایک پرامن اور مستحکم افغانستان پاکستان کے مفاد میں ہے۔ انہوں نے افغانستان سے ہونے والی دہشتگردی اور افغان سرزمین پر دہشتگرد گروہوں کی موجودگی پر شدید تشویش کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے ان گروہوں کے خلاف ٹھوس اور قابلِ تصدیق اقدامات کی ضرورت پر زور دیا۔
وزیراعظم نے فلسطینی عوام کے حقِ خودارادیت اور ان کی ریاست کے قیام کے حق کے لیے پاکستان کی غیر متزلزل حمایت کا اعادہ کرتے ہوئے غزہ امن منصوبے اور اقوام متحدہ کی سلامتی کونسل کی قرارداد 2803 پر عملدرآمد کے لیے پاکستان کی حمایت کا بھی اعادہ کیا۔
وزیراعظم نے ترقی پذیر ممالک کو ترقی اور موسمیاتی لچک کے فروغ کے لیے کم لاگت اور رعایتی مالی وسائل تک زیادہ سے زیادہ رسائی فراہم کرنے کی ضرورت پر بھی زور دیا۔
سیکریٹری جنرل انتونیو گوتریس نے اقوام متحدہ اور عالمی امن و سلامتی کے لیے پاکستان کی دیرینہ خدمات کو سراہا، جن میں اقوام متحدہ کے امن مشنز میں پاکستان کا اہم کردار اور سلامتی کونسل میں اس کی تعمیری شمولیت شامل ہے۔
سیکریٹری جنرل نے مکالمے، ثالثی اور کشیدگی میں کمی کے فروغ کے لیے پاکستان کی سفارتی کوششوں کو خصوصی طور پر سراہا اور کثیرالجہتی نظام اور اقوام متحدہ کے منشور کے مقاصد و اصولوں کے لیے پاکستان کے مسلسل عزم کا خیرمقدم کیا۔
بعد ازاں وزیراعظم محمد شہباز شریف نے اقوام متحدہ کے سیکریٹری جنرل اور ان کے وفد کے اعزاز میں عشائیہ دیا۔
